Summer House Season 9, Episode 3 Recap: Battle of the Sexes

Welcome to the recap for Summer House Season 9, Episode 3. Last week, Lindsay’s big announcement put pressure on Paige and Amanda to start thinking about motherhood. However, the two were not ready to pull the trigger just yet. Carl and Lindsay finally broke the ice and shocked everyone with their civility. Ciara flexed her Traitors chops and tried to banish West. She had enough votes, but his apology warranted a second chance. Will the two be able to stay on friendly terms? Here’s exactly what went down in Summer House Season 9, Episode 3: “Battle of the Sexes.”

What happened in Summer House Season 9, Episode 3?

It’s not Summer House without an epic Fourth of July party. This year’s theme was a battle of the sexes with the girls taking it down for the win. Lexi and Jesse continued their relationship at warp-nine speed when she asked him to be exclusive and introduced him to her parents. Kyle played DJ at an event and introduced Imrul to the group, who was the ultimate Casanova. But Paige had beef with Kyle after he raged texted her about Craig. Sh*t’s about to get real.

The aftermath of Ciara and West’s conversation was making its rounds. A relieved West told Jesse the deed was done, and Ciara told Amanda the same. She said, “I just feel like I can’t f*cking wait to meet the person I’m supposed to be with so I can literally hide away on a farm.” And she’ll save money on eggs.

Meanwhile, the crew added some finishing touches for their Fourth of July party. It would be guys versus girls as to who had the best setup, with the losers having to do the dunk tank the next day. Then the floodgates opened with some friends and extras hired off Craigslist.

The boys got in the spirit with Kyle and Carl rocking hot dog and bun costumes, and West and Jesse as ketchup and mustard. And the two had on hats that appropriately looked like dunce caps. As Bailee and Lexi bounced around the slip and slide, Paige and Amanda realized they were no longer in their 20s.

Paige said, “This is my first summer that I feel old. They feel so young and nice and like full of life. And I’m like, are you even registered to vote?” The new guard was coming in y’all.

Everyone called it a night after the girls won. Lexi continued to ignore common sense and invited Jesse to spend the night. She said, “Obviously Jesse and I are hitting it off very fast. But … I’d much rather dive in head first and be like ‘damn that hurt’ than be like ‘what could have happened?’”

The next morning, Amanda, Paige, and Ciara decided to up the ante and poured the leftover hot dogs into the dunk tank. West made it known he was not thrilled. Ciara countered at least they left out the condiments. This little exchange gave him some hope.

West said, “Even though it’s still a smidge awkward, it feels like way less heavy with Ciara right now. So, I’m gonna try find like little windows to be normal … if two ex engaged lovers can be in this house together, then like Ciara and I can be in this house together.”

Ciara felt better too after getting a bit of revenge dunking West. She said, “I have made peace with the situation; we’re moving on. But dunking West, it was definitely good for the soul.”

Back in the city, Paige met up with Lindsay to go shopping. It was a cute scene, and refreshing to see them as friends and not at odds. Paige shared that once she found out Lindsay was pregnant she “felt very protective.” The two dished on the topic of freezing their eggs, and Paige brought up that Craig had frozen his sperm. But the walls of her relationship with Craig seemed to be slowly crumbling down.

Paige said, “Craig’s been ready for a family and for me to move into his home since literally I think the day he texted me. But I have worked for this exact moment in my career for ten-plus years … Trust me, I wanted to be in the bed. I wanted to be taken care of. I would have loved to just marry a man and said, ‘and now I’m done.’ But that’s not where I’m at.”

Lexi wants to lock it down with Jesse

Jesse met up with Lexi for a date and learned she wasn’t super athletic. He joked his dad wanted to see if his mom could do a jump shot before having kids with her. Lexi immediately asked if that meant Jesse wanted her to have his babies. Facepalm.

Lexi upped the ante and made it clear she wanted to be exclusive. Jesse stuttered they’ve only known each other less than a week. Oh, what a tangled web we weave.

Afterward, they each filled in the crew about their date during Kyle’s DJ gig. Carl said Lexi was the “kind of girl you lock down.” Jesse quipped, “She’s made that clear.” While Lexi admitted to the girls they “probably are going too fast.” Ciara and Paige gave a dramatic “Noooo,” which clearly meant the exact opposite.

Then Imrul made his debut. Kyle said, “He loves to have a good time; he loves to get after it. Bit of a Casanova, if Casanova lived in New York City in 2024 and had multiple partners in a given night.” Sounds like a logline for a wacky rom-com.

All seemed to be going well until Paige pulled Ciara aside to show her some rage texts from Kyle. Apparently, he was mad at Craig and her friend Hannah for working with his competitors. Kyle wrote, “Honestly beyond discouraged. With Craig too. This wouldn’t be a topic today if it wasn’t for him and about a dozen lies. I can’t believe this is where Hannah is at three years later.”

Paige told Ciara, “When have you supported a single thing I’ve done?” She then added she only came tonight to keep Amanda company while “he pretends to be Diplo.” Grab the popcorn people! Paige was about to be activated.

Imrul is a fan of being open and honest

Lindsay was the first one back at the house, along with founder and CEO, Danielle. Danielle gave a brief update that she was single and missed the house. Hint, hint, producers! Ciara was next to arrive and filled them in on Imrul. She said he couldn’t make it last weekend because he was at a “play party.” And it wasn’t for kids.

Imrul pulled a Luke and rolled in on a motorcycle. He apologized for not making it last weekend but he “had his hands tied.” Ba dum tss!

In his confessional, Imrul shared he grew up in a strict Muslim household where “everything was taboo.” So now he’s the opposite. He said, “It’s me embracing I think who I always was. And I’m just so open about it. I’m like, hey this is who I am, you know? Take it or leave it.” Danielle was intrigued.

West, Paige, and Lexi rode up together and Lexi told them Jesse met her parents. Paige asked, “When should we expect your save the dates?” Meanwhile, Jesse wondered, “How the f*ck did I get here?”

Later, Paige and Ciara met up to talk about Kyle’s texts. And Paige did not hold back. She said, “I’ve gotten to a point where like you f*cked with my best friend, now you’re f*cking with my boyfriend. You disrespect me, you think you can text me anything you want. F*ck you. Like, you’re lucky I don’t buy Loverboy and f*cking sell it. So … I’ll probably say all that at Lindsay’s gender reveal dinner.” Paige has entered the chat, folks.

Summer House continues Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
