Taylor Frankie Paul Is MVP of the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives

The saints and sinners are back! Season 2 of Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has dropped, and it is sinfully delicious! These Mormon mom influencers have once again proved that they can bring it in the drama department.

Of course, Taylor Frankie Paul started MomTok, which was a platform for the influencers to support each other and celebrate women. However, she ignited a firestorm of controversy when she revealed that she and her ex-husband, Tate Paul, were involved in “soft swinging” with some MomTok members. During Season 1, Taylor dealt with the fallout from the big reveal as the group struggled to unite.

Somehow, Season 2 gave viewers more betrayals, more romantic woes, and more disagreements about the direction of MomTok. Of course, much of the chaos revolved around Taylor, including her shocking falling out with Demi Engemann. There can only be one queen of MomTok, right? So, let’s look at why Taylor was the MVP of the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2. Get your dirty sodas ready!

Taylor Frankie Paul spilled about the swinging scandal in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2

This season, Taylor’s former bestie, Miranda McWhorter, joined the cast. It turns out that Miranda and her ex-husband, Chase McWhorter, were part of the MomTok swingers. However, when the scandal broke, both denied taking part in it. Later on, Chase admitted to his involvement.

So, when Miranda told the Mormon moms that she was only involved in “kissing” and that “no one had sex ever,” the group was confused. Was Taylor telling the salacious truth? Or was Miranda?

Eventually, Taylor and Miranda sat down to put the topic to bed (pun intended). “Yes, you didn’t have sex with the husbands,” Taylor stated, “but like you didn’t just kiss people, though.” Then Taylor revealed the steamy details about what happened during the infamous parties.

Taylor told Miranda that they “had sex in the shower with the husbands all together. We also had sex in the same bed at the same time.” She continued, “We also had a night where it was four husbands and you and me, and they asked us to go get in short shorts, so we did. Then we came down, we were so drunk we were making out and were on top of each other.” Then the husbands filmed it on their phones.

Finally, Taylor reminded Miranda, “We’d blindfold each other, and you’d have to guess which husband you were kissing.” In her confessional, Miranda admitted, “I mean, Taylor’s not wrong.” And now viewers know that Taylor told the truth, and Miranda just confirmed it.

Taylor Frankie Paul was vulnerable about her past and relationship with Dakota Mortensen in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives

Taylor and her baby daddy, Dakota Mortensen, were doomed from the start. Dakota had struggled with substance abuse issues, while Taylor was just coming off the swinging scandal and her divorce when they started dating. Then, the couple became pregnant with their son, Ever. However, Taylor continued to have trust issues and learned early in Season 2 that Dakota had lied to her and cheated. Despite wanting desperately to work things out for the sake of their son, Taylor asked Dakota to move out.

However, during their separation, the exes continued to have sex. While Taylor initially thought it wasn’t an issue, eventually she realized that nothing had changed between the pair. Finally, Dakota issued an ultimatum to Taylor. After considering what was best for Ever, she decided to break up with Dakota.

This season, Taylor seemed at times to be broken and fragile. She was in therapy and shared how her self-esteem suffered when her birth father rejected her. The guilt and shame from the swinging scandal continued to plague her, and Dakota’s betrayal repeatedly triggered these feelings.

One moment that tugged at my heart was when Taylor was telling her family about presenting an award at the Country Music Awards. While she detailed being in first class on the plane, she also shared that she didn’t feel like she deserved it. Taylor’s vulnerability in these moments and willingness to show all the messy parts of her life are one of the reasons that she is Season 2’s MVP.

Taylor Frankie Paul’s feud with Demi Engemann was explosive

In Taylor’s eyes, Demi was sus for several reasons. One was her willingness to toss her bestie, Jessi Ngatikaura, to the side for a big pay day. Viewers discovered that Jessi and Demi had a falling out because Demi was fine with Jessi exiting The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives if Demi received more cash. Plus, Taylor revealed to Jessi that Demi told her not to use Jessi’s salon to have her hair done. With a friend like that, who needs enemies?

Taylor also clocked Demi for thinking that she deserved the best brand partnerships because she was one of the first season’s “fan favorites.” So, Taylor fired back, reminding Demi that she only had these opportunities because Taylor started MomTok.

In a confessional, Taylor stated, “I do feel like Demi sits on her high horse and looks down at all of us.” She also slammed her for not showing her entire life on the show. Taylor suspected that there were cracks in Demi’s marriage to Bret Engemann, but Demi insisted that their life was perfect.

However, Demi decided that MomTok would be better off without Taylor. After Demi uninvited Taylor to her Christmas party, Taylor sent her mom to deliver a gift to Demi. It was a box of hair products from Jessi’s salon, JZ Styles Co. So petty and so hilarious!

At the big MomTok meeting, Demi tried to convince the group to oust Taylor. Earlier, she had issued an ultimatum. If Taylor stayed, then she would leave MomTok. After Taylor told Demi that she wasn’t leaving, and all of her friends supported Taylor, Demi decided to step back from the group.

During Season 2, Taylor’s willingness to show all the dark, painful, and joyful moments in her life made her the MVP of Season 2.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is available to stream on Hulu. The show streams on Disney+ in the UK.
