The Valley Season 2 Episode 5 Recap: Grapes of Wrath

Welcome to the recap for The Valley Season 2 Episode 5. Last episode, showed Jesse with his pants down. Literally. Jax couldn’t keep his twitchy fingers in his pants and decided to bombard Brittany with rage texts. This week, the gang’s Santa Barbara trip continues, but it’s all unraveling. Sadly, Nia is blindsided when she learns that some of her friends have been talking behind her back. So here’s exactly what happened in The Valley Season 2, Episode 5: “Grapes of Wrath.”

    Jesse tries to rattle Michelle

It’s 8:30 a.m. and Zack is cuddling onion dip. However Jesse is stewing over his feelings towards Michelle. According to the realtor his soon-to-be ex-wife is triggering him to no end. Jesse was left so upset he had no other choice but to come out in his tighty whities and tell everyone to go to sleep. Now as a new dawn breaks he is already pouring himself a tall glass of white wine.

In her bedroom, Michelle made it clear while talking with Nia that she would have never thrown the therapy ball at Jesse because she doesn’t want the communication. Jesse’s decision to try to force a conversation was calculated. Michelle notes, “He knows that was going to bother me. I want to move on and be happy.” In her confessional, Michelle adds Jesse is “insane” to think she would say anything nice about him, only days after he called her a high-end escort.

The texts persist, and so does Jax

Our Kentucky muffin awakens to a new Jax. A Jax that still rage texts, but this time he reveals he’s been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Brittany has been exhausted as she shared that he has been “messing with my emotions 24/7.” Luckily, it’s not something a little chip and dip can’t solve in the moment. Zack does make a point as he shares that he feels Brittany has been “trauma trained,” noting Jax likes to keep her in a state of emotional abuse.

Jesse is thrilled to be taking everyone on a winery tour. According to Michelle, he wants to show off his extensive knowledge of wine and champagne. He’s already polished off two bottles of champagne. The man is hammered. Jesse is being that annoying drunk guy on the literal stripper pole in the party van. 29-year-old Kristen in Cabo would be so proud. Naturally, a day in wine country can’t be complete without a blowout fight. Michelle quietly steps away from the table with an incoming call from the nanny.

Tipsy Jesse asked to say a few words to their daughter, but Michelle turned her back. The mother of one shares with cameras that she is disgusted by him, and it is going to take a monumental feat to be able to forgive him. I mean, girl, we get you. He called you a hooker. Michelle notes that to his core, Jesse is a selfish man who can’t even apologize to her. “Look at you. You’re a disaster” Michelle notes to which Jesse replies, “And you’re a hooker.” Yikes. Immedialtey, Michelle ends the conversation, “You can’t do that. I’m the mother of your f*cking child.” This quickly turns to the seventh circle of hell as Michelle questions Jesse’s sexuality and accuses him of being broke. Next thing we know Jesse is calling her a “whore” and Michelle drenches him with a drink. Yup, this divorce is definitely going well.

Cracks are starting to show with Nia and Danny. They are just breadcrumbs, but if you follow the trail, I think fans will be rewarded. As the bus chugs along, a phone call between the duo is overheard. On one hand, Nia tells her husband he isn’t allowed to talk to her like that. So one could only imagine what Danny spat out. The child actor shows up in all his glory, as if he expected a group of royal trumpets to welcome him. He then, however, proceeds to gargle his wine. Just no, Danny.

Danny proceeds to play catch-up, and within five minutes of arriving, Nia is reminding him that he has sufficiently caught up. Even with a pinky up, the father of three is turning into a sloppy drunk. Back at the house, the cameras catch Danny hiding in the pantry. Janet reveals that he was in there “chugging” tequila. I’m starting to feel bad for Nia, who might be the only one in The Valley who has no idea that her husband becomes inappropriate when he is inebriated. The group is not happy and feels that the Bookos has been anything but genuine.

But the truth always comes out in The Valley. Nia is told of Brittany and Jasmine’s betrayal and corners them in the same pantry where Danny took shots only hours earlier. Ah, the poetic irony isn’t lost on us.

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.

TELL US – WHAT DID YOU THINK OF EPISODE FIVE OF THE VALLEY? DO YOU THINK DANNY AND NIA ARE HAVING MARITAL ISSUES?
