The Valley Season 2 Episode 6 Recap

Welcome to the recap for The Valley Season 2 Episode 6. Last episode, showed Michelle blowing her top when it came to Jesse’s antics. The wine trip took a turn after Danny drank himself into a nap. Nia was left to defend her sleepy/drunk husband, but had no idea her best friends were turning on her. This week, the trip comes to a dramatic end as Nia is forced to defend her marriage and fights back against Brittany, Janet, and Jasmine. So here’s exactly what happened in The Valley Season 2, Episode 6: “Behind Closed Pantry Doors.”

The episode of The Valley picks up with Nia defending herself, and doing it well. Who knew that Jesse and Michelle would end the evening looking like the most sane people in the rental home? Nia is blindsided and confused as to why her friends are speaking about her behind her back. Surely the beauty queen is used to this type of psychological games? However, the three Witches of WeHo 2.0 feel immensely disrespected. Personally, I’m a bit confused and feel they are arguing over semantics at this point.

Finally, Rumplestiltskin himself, aka Danny, rises from his nap. Jasmine is outraged and riled, exclaiming that Brittany’s life has been put on a platter as if she were slaughtered meat. Perfectly timed, Danny notes “Holy cow” and walks away to be debriefed by his wife. What makes this moment upsetting is how Janet, Michelle, Brittany, and Jasmine continue to talk behind the couple’s back, with Jasmine saying, “We know Danny has a drinking problem.” I don’t know, but something about this made me feel icky.

Perhaps more telling about the motive behind this fight is the tea Janet spilled in her confessional. She tells the cameras that she has heard through the grapevine that Nia has gone to Alcoholics Anonymous for support. She has no proof. So much for being anonymous, right? The new mother then goes on to note that she feels bad for Nia having to defend her husband’s actions continuously. It seems this pow wow has convinced themselves that Dark Side Danny is going down with the ship and taking Nia along for the ride. Again, I didn’t like how the group was trying to force a come-to-Jesus moment.

Meanwhile, Nia is crying in her bed with a very confused Danny doing his best to comfort her. The beauty queen has been a strong friend for Brittany. So naturally, she is confused as to why the former Hooters girl was so upset with her. However, we do start to see a few more cracks between Danny and Nia. The tensions are high, and I counted at least five “Daniel, no.” And I can’t help but feel Nia might have forgotten how to be a wife and instead thinks she is raising a fourth child. I’m not a Danny fan by any means, but I couldn’t help but feel demoralized for the man. The bottom line is that the Bookos don’t air their dirty laundry, which begs a bigger question: Why did they sign up for The Valley?

I found myself groaning out loud as Scheana Shay walked back onto our screen. Don’t get me wrong, Scheana has delivered some good-as-gold moments, but I’m just over her. However, Michelle is still very close to the former SUR server, so we were graced with her presence. The duo rehashed the weekend while on a Runyon walk. How poignant, and I wondered if Michelle got some of that famous honey. However, Michelle has decided that it is in her best interest not to interact with Jesse unless it is about their daughter. She also told her friend that her boyfriend, Aaron, said that if it doesn’t get better, it might be best if they take a break. Ouch.

All I kept thinking was how in shape those camera operators had to be for that hike. The cameras pick back up on solid ground at Jesse’s house. While talking to his life coach, he relives the hurt of Michelle cheating on him. I will say this life coach is making sense as he tells Jesse he can’t “act like a d*ck” or “self-important.” Perhaps the best part was watching Jesse scream into a pillow with everything he had. If that wasn’t a fine cinematic moment, then I don’t know what qualifies.

Brittany is hoping to address the elephant in the room. And what better way than to cater a dinner with a hot chef. It’s quite the olive branch if you ask me. The ladies sit at the table, and it feels like a mob wife stand-off. It was like a Gambino crime family dinner, with each personality getting ready to make a power play. Our Kentucky muffin did well and started the ball rolling with an apology. The women clearly are trying to show Nia that they are there to support her if something is wrong.

When it was Nia’s turn to speak, she revealed that she and Danny have been working through the Halloween incident, including couples and individual therapy. For Nia, it is all about keeping up a positive perception, as she explains that she was homeless as a child. The mother of three shares that she would much rather bring kindness into a room than negative energy.

We need to protect Nia at all costs.

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
