The Valley’s Kristen Doute Gets Real About Past Miscarriage

The Valley’s Kristen Doute Gets Real About Past Miscarriage

As Kristen Doute excitedly awaits the birth of her first child with fiancé Luke Broderick, The Valley star had a moment of recollection about the miscarriage she experienced in the fall of 2023. The Bravolebrity still struggles because of that experience, especially since doctors were not able to explain why she lost her prior pregnancy. But she’s through the most vulnerable early months and now can enjoy the end of her term.

Kristen is due with her first child, a daughter, in June 2025. In a recent interview, the Vanderpump Rules alum recalled how nervous she was the second time she found out that she and Luke were expecting. She also detailed what happened when she suffered the miscarriage at six weeks.

Kristen Doute struggled with no answers post-miscarriage

The Valley star appeared on a recent episode of the Infertile AF: Infertility and Modern Family Building podcast. She explained that she and Luke were traveling when she started bleeding. Her primary caregiver was inaccessible from where they were.

“I woke up in the morning and I started bleeding,” Kristen told podcast host Ali Prato. “There was a little bit of tissue that had passed. It wasn’t anything crazy, but it was enough to scare me. We were nowhere near my doctor — really, we were nowhere near any doctor.”

The couple cut their vacation short and started driving back to California. They decided to get some tests done along the way to figure out if the pregnancy was still viable.

“When my labs came back, my progesterone was just nothing — something else I knew nothing about. I didn’t even know what hCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) meant, I just knew it meant I’m pregnant or I’m not pregnant,” she said.

Kristen’s labs were immediately flagged as her progesterone was extremely low. She described the numbers as so low that the pregnancy was “not happening” at that point.

The Cleveland Clinic describes progesterone as a hormone that “supports menstruation and helps maintain the early stages of a pregnancy. Too little progesterone can cause complications with pregnancy.”

It was hard to be “happy” when Kristen became pregnant again

Kristen continued bleeding for another four weeks. At that point, her doctor gave her medication “to induce the miscarriage” as there was no viable embryo. It was a “terrible” experience that Kristen said made her feel guilty.

“I remember asking my doctor, ‘Why? What happened?’ And he’s like, ‘This is just one of those things where there is no answer to the why,’ ” the Bravolebrity explained.

She continued, “Just trying to deal with the fact that there is no f*cking answer to this. And that’s the hardest part.”

Kristen didn’t feel comfortable in her new pregnancy until four or five months in. And this time around was not without issues. The Valley star said she found it “hard to feel happy.”

“I was happy, but I didn’t react the way I thought I was gonna react. I didn’t react the same way I reacted the first time we found out we were pregnant, where that was like a rom-com movie reaction,” she said.

Kristen and Luke are expecting a baby girl in June.
