Where It Went Wrong for RHONY Sai De Silva and Brynn Whitfield

When Sai De Silva and Brynn Whitfield were first introduced to viewers, they seemed to have a friendship that no one could break. The two newest Real Housewives of New York ladies were like peanut butter and jelly. They just went together. Their premiere season showed Brynn opening up to her friend about her troubled childhood, and in turn, Sai often stood up for her close friend. But the finale showcased a crack in their friendship that was never fixed.

What happened at the Real Housewives of New York finale fight?

Nothing good ever comes from revealing gossip your best friend told you. That kind of information is supposed to stay locked in the vault. But Brynn didn’t mind getting her hands dirty. The whole kerfuffle started after Brynn revealed some information Sai had once shared with her while the Bravo cameras were rolling. Sai confidently shared the mysterious information, thinking she could trust Brynn to keep her mouth shut. At the time, Brynn asserted that “Sai told me. She said it on camera,” insinuating it was fair game to discuss it on RHONY. However, Sai disagreed with the judgment call. And while at a cast party yelled, “It was not on f*cking camera!”

After the season wrapped, Sai expressed her disappointment with her former bestie while speaking with Page Six. The fashion influencer wasn’t a fan of Brynn spilling the beans, noting, “We had a bit of tension toward the end of filming, and there were just some things that I kind of told her that I wish she wouldn’t have said.” Sai bashed Brynn, adding, “And I’m such a girl’s girl; I’m very loyal. I shouldn’t have said it to her in the first place.”

The RHONY reunion didn’t help mend fences

At the Season 14 reunion of the Real Housewives of New York, things didn’t get ironed out between the two. Sai, in fact, was called out by viewers who thought she was acting hypocritically. It was Sai who broke Ubah Hassan’s trust by talking about Mr. Connecticut in the first place, yet Brynn received the wrath. It just didn’t seem fair, and Brynn noticed the red flags. Sai tried to explain that she was “harder on Brynn because she and I were very close. I trusted you with a secret.” However, Brynn wasn’t about to be the fall girl, and she asked, “What secret did you share on camera?”

Sai continued to say, “I definitely spilled the beans. I apologized. She shouldn’t have repeated any of it.” Brynn, who was sweet for most of the season, clearly had her guard up as she clapped back, saying, “It’s a state. It’s the United States,” after Sai claimed she shouldn’t have mentioned the state of Connecticut. For a moment, the duo seemed to be getting back on track, but at the end of Part 1, when Andy Cohen asked if they could move forward, Brynn noted, “I have thousands of friends.”

Brynn Whitfield leaks a text message during the Season 15 premiere

As Real Housewives of New York fans learned, Brynn and Sai can’t let bygones be bygones. In the first episode, Sai is furious that Brynn feels it is okay to leak her shady text messages about Jessel Taank. During the segment, Sai was explaining how she had started her zen journey. But Brynn had other plans as she read her former friend’s text saying, “F*ck you Jessel and your Dory from Finding Nemo look  alike husband too.” To be honest, the shady read was pretty funny from a viewer’s standpoint, but the move definitely didn’t help Brynn get back into Sai’s good graces.

On her Instagram Live, Sai shared, “I just wanted to give some context because there’s absolutely no context to that message. One, I was mad as hell, okay? And when I’m mad, I have a horrible mouth. It could be very lethal, and I’ve been keeping it very PG.” According to the influencer, she had been fighting with Jessel all of last year, sharing, “We all know since then, Jessel and I have made up and moved on. I sent that message to Jessel in a group chat. So, everyone saw it, including Jessel. It wasn’t like I was talking behind her back. I was talking to her face. I have no idea why it was read. It shouldn’t have been.”

I think it’s safe to say the trust between Brynn and Sai has been lost. And there doesn’t look to be a way forward for the two as of yet.

Real Housewives of New York can be streamed on Peacock.
