I wasn’t too sure about the new kid on the block when it came to the Real Housewives of Potomac. But Stacey Rusch has slowly started to win me over. At first, I felt like she might not have understood what signing up for a reality TV show meant, as she came across as a bit too pure. Slowly, however, she started to let her personality shine through. And if fans were doing superlatives for RHOP, she’d surely win class clown.
Stacey Rusch is the funniest RHOP star in a while
In the most recent episode of the Real Housewives of Potomac, Stacey was at a loss for dance moves as the ladies dropped it low all around her. While at Lake Norman in honor of Wendy Osefo’s birthday, everyone was trying to show off their best dance moves. For my life, I can’t get the visions of Stacey dancing out of my head. Honestly, the image is currently living there rent-free. But Stacey noted, “I don’t know how to twerk.” I was practically rolling on the floor as she whipped out some moves from the ’60s, including the twist. And while I love that dance era, the women told her she needed to “unstiff” herself.
Stacey took all the comments with a grain of salt as she continued to jiggle those shoulders. In her confessional, the former QVC host joked, “I don’t drop it like it’s hot. Shake that thang. I just move in the way the music tells me. I can get down. They’re saying that I’m stiff and I’m boring. But honestly, after dancing, I know I’ve changed their minds.” Her delusion is cute as cameras caught the women mocking her moves but she just kept on partying. What a trooper.
Stacey Rusch is staying celibate
It’s none of my business why two grown adults would choose not to have sex. But since Stacey and her best friend, TJ have signed up for the Real Housewives of Potomac, it can now be my business. Stacey made a rookie mistake as she told the woman that her friend was choosing not to have sex until he found his wife. Even her ally Karen Huger shaded her for her sexless relationship. As Gizelle Bryant and I snickered. Stacey added, “There’s a lot of things you can do. The gym. Go to the zoo.” The zoo, girl? For me, it was Stacey’s comedic delivery. Her sound bites are like a grand slam out of the ballpark, and she keeps them coming.
After the girls had a blowout 40th for Wendy, they all awoke with awful hangovers. But not Stacey, who is very used to the early bird getting the worm. Her chipperness must have been a turn-off for those who were sick, but her bubbling-over persona was entertaining for the rest of us. As Wendy contemplated where it all went wrong at the breakfast table, Stacey noted, “Usually, when I overdo it, I just keep going. You’re stopping. It’s abrupt. Champagne for Wendy.” This woman is funny, guys, and she knows how to deliver a solid line.
Stacey Rusch could be an alien…
Sometimes, as I watch Stacey, the freshman Real Housewives of Potomac star, I realize she has no idea how to act around this group of women, which cracks me up. But there is something so nice about a newbie with no self-control. Stacey just says it as it is, almost in a robotic monotone, as if she has rehearsed her comebacks. The whole package usually leaves me giggling and scratching my head. And she seems to be this funny off the show as well.
While on Watch What Happens Live, she told the host, “I still don’t even know if we’re friends. One minute, we’re friends; the next, she’s hazing me.” The statement was, again, accurate but downright hilarious. I still can’t figure out if she will be a one-and-done kind of Bravo star, but for now, she is definitely tickling my funny bone. As the season progresses, I don’t doubt Stacey will knock my socks off with some more one-liners, as I am more than ready for a good laugh.
Real Housewives of Potomac is streaming on Peacock.
