In The City Episode 10 Recap: Reunion Part 1

Welcome back to your In The City recap!

In last week’s episode, the group continued their Friendsgiving vacation, but there was drama between almost everyone. Whitney clashed with Lindsay and Georgina about whether they play the “single mom card” too often. Meanwhile, Kenny questioned his and Gavin’s friendship, and things continued to deteriorate for Kyle and Amanda.

So, what happened next? Here’s exactly what went down in In The City Episode 10: “Reunion Part 1.”

For In The City Episode 10 – titled: “Reunion Part 1” – the cast sat down with Andy Cohen to unpack how their debut season played out. Amanda and Kyle gave fans an update on their relationship post-split. She also answered questions about how things are going with West. Beyond the Summer Housers, Kenny and Whitney defended their romance to the rest of the group. And, speaking of Whitney, she went head-to-head with Lindsay.

Here’s how it all went down…

    An olive stole the show

Part 1 of the In The City Reunion kicked off with Amanda sharing an update on her and West’s dating situation following her split from Kyle. Naturally, Andy had lots of questions about the Summer House duo’s recent trip to Italy. During said trip, they were photographed “spitting” into each other’s mouths. “It was an olive,” Amanda clarified when asked about the now-viral image. “I wasn’t spitting in his mouth.”

Next, Andy queried whether Amanda was on any medication during the Summer House Reunion, which aired a few weeks ago. “I was on a beta blocker as well,” she revealed, commenting on her very subdued behavior during the three-parter. “But that’s not why I was disengaged,” she went on. “My defense mechanism is to just shut down and disassociate.”

The cast shared their verdict on Scamanda

Regardless of this episode being the first Reunion for In The City, the first few minutes were heavily focused on Scamanda, which rocked Summer House Season 10 as well as the wider Bravoverse. When asked by Andy who was “shocked” by Amanda and West’s decision to “give things a go” romantically, the entire cast replied with a resounding “yes.”

Danielle said she was “shocked” and “disappointed” by Amanda and West’s relationship. That, she explained, is because of the friendships that “were broken apart because of it.” Danielle also said she wishes Amanda had “taken some time” to be alone following her split from Kyle, rather than immediately pursuing another romantic relationship. Amanda was surprisingly pretty accepting of this. She admitted to handling the situation “wrong” and having “lied” during that period of her life.

Despite the cast’s obvious dislike of Amanda and West’s romance, she confirmed that the pair are now in an officially monogamous relationship. However, Amanda declined to answer whether they are “in love.” As for Kyle’s thoughts? He disagreed with Amanda’s claim that she lacked support during their marriage. He was also visibly hurt by the positive comments she gave about her new relationship.

Kyle’s dating life was a hot topic

After discussing the fallout of Scamanda, talk turned to Kyle’s dating life since he split from Amanda. The group commented on how “public” his makeout sessions have become and, of course, had to reference the image of him seemingly on “his tippy toes” kissing former Real Housewives of Orange County star Meghan.

Beyond the laughs and jokes about Kyle’s transformation as a single man, Kenny shared some concerns. “The way you’re showing up for [Amanda], [and] the way that you’re still so friendly, given the level of betrayal here, are you allowing yourself to process?” he asked Kyle. Before he could answer, Amanda jumped in to clarify there was “no crossover” between Kyle and West; therefore, there was “no betrayal.”

As for Kyle’s view, he said the “only thing” he was “confused” about was the timeline between his and Amanda’s divorce post on social media, and her and West’s relationship going public. “There’s stuff that I’m still processing,” he admitted. Kyle then concluded that he felt “more betrayed” by West rather than Amanda (who he had split from at the time) because they “were boys.”

Kenny and Whitney’s relationship was an ongoing topic of conversation during In The City Season 1, particularly due to the word “murky” being attached to it – whether he actually said it or not. It’s no wonder then that the pair’s romance was questioned by both Andy and viewers at home during the Reunion episode.

“It felt very intense,” Whitney said of how the group reacted to her and Kenny’s unconventional relationship (that being: her moving across the country without the commitment of an engagement ring). She said that the cast’s commentary and questions felt more like “judgement” rather than an attempt to “understand.”

Ultimately, Kenny said that perhaps he came across as uncertain in his comments about Whitney because he was “numb to long-term things working out” following a big break-up and the passing of his mother. “I was grieving, and I was having these doubts about long-term things in general,” he added. Here, Whitney jumped in to say that watching the comments hurt, but after a conversation with Kenny, she felt “reassured.”

    Does Lindsay have minions?

Early on in In The City Season 1, Kenny accused Lindsay of having “minions.” This is why he thought some people in the group struggled to connect with his girlfriend, Whitney. “It’s called having friends,” Lindsay replied at the Reunion, referring to the tight bond she has with Yvonne and Georgina.

“Not at all,” Lexi said when Andy asked if Lindsay had a “mean girl” crew. “I consider them my friends, and everyone is allowed to have their own opinion.” Lexi went on to say that “it’s great” when people can speak up and share their feelings. Meanwhile, Danielle jumped in to describe being on the other side of that as “lonely.”

To resolve things, Amanda suggested that going forward, if Lindsay, Yvonne, or Georgina are asked a question, only the person involved gives their answer, rather than all three jumping in. “That’s the most significant thing that’s been said all night,” Kenny responded. He also apologized for using the word “minion” to begin with.

Lindsay reacted to the “single mom card”

“I am really sorry that I used that term,” Whitney said about her claim that Lindsay uses the “single mom card.” “Even watching it back, I feel like that is far from the point that I was trying to get across.” She went on to add that she “respects” both Lindsay and Georgina as single mothers, and “how hard” they work to give their kids the lives they deserve. “I don’t want to disregard that. And I’m sorry that you felt a type of way from that comment,” she added. Whitney again clarified that she was trying to repair Lindsay and Yvonne’s damaged friendship, but her point got lost along the way.

Despite Whitney’s regret over the “single mom card” comment, Lindsay was not exactly accepting of her apology. She accused Whitney of “doubling down” on the accusation due to her thoughts on Lindsay having a nanny to help her with baby Gemma. “I almost threw up watching this, because it was so much worse than as it was explained to me,” she continued. “I cried for six months about what you said … it was so hurtful.”

Lindsay then told Whitney she would need to apologize at least 15 more times to make up for the damage. “You collect apologies like you collect souls,” Kenny said to that, prompting an almighty side-eye from Lindsay.

    To! Be! Continued!

In The City continues on Tuesdays at 9 PM ET/PT on Bravo. It streams on Peacock the following day.
