‘Scream 7’ Eyes Mid $30M+ Opening at U.S. Box Office

‘Scream 7’ Eyes Mid M+ Opening at U.S. Box Office

Paramount and Spyglass Media’s Scream 7 came on domestic tracking with a mid $30M opening in store when it arrives in theaters on Feb. 27. If those numbers hold, it could be the second highest opening in the 30-year-old franchise stateside after Scream VI‘s record $44.4M opening; that 2023 installment fueled by the Jenna Ortega Wednesday phenomenon.

Currently, Scream 7 is great with the 17-34 bunch and multicultural audiences across definite interest and first choice. Tickets don’t go on sale until Monday after the pic’s pre-Game Super Bowl spot. Advance ticket sales are typically a better indication of demand. Right now tracking has Scream 7 coming on higher than Scream VI, The Conjuring: Last Rites ($84M) and Final Destination: Bloodlines ($51.6M) in First Choice. There’s an argument that with lower grossing movies like Send Help and Iron Lung presently on tracking, most forecasts are inflated.

While Scream VI took the action to New York City, Scream 7 brings it back to the small town, repping the full comeback of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott. Another big highlight of Scream 7 is that it brings scribe Kevin Williamson into the director’s chair on his own franchise for the first time; a big deal to fans.

Everyone is eyeing next weekend, the Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day frame, which truly looks to be the first time that the box office gets a jolt in 2026 with Warner Bros’ Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi steamy romance pic Wuthering Heights eyeing a $40M start, and Sony’s original Stephen Curry produced animated title Goat looking at $30M 3-day.
