What Austen Kroll Said About Craig Conover Paige DeSorbo Split

What Austen Kroll Said About Craig Conover Paige DeSorbo Split

The aftermath of Craig Conover and Paige DeSorbo’s split is getting messy. Especially now that Craig’s friend and Southern Charm co-star Austen Kroll keeps chiming in. Austen isn’t holding back about his pal’s split from the Summer House star after three years of dating. He’s not the only Southern Charm star to weigh in on the break-up. However, Austen’s comments got him into a bit of hot water. And Paige didn’t hesitate to fire back. Here’s everything Austen has said so far about Craig and Paige’s split.

Austen Kroll shaded Paige DeSorbo for allegedly moving on from Craig Conover

When he appeared on Watch What Happens Live, Austen was asked about the rumors Paige already moved on from Craig. Earlier that week, reports claimed she’s getting serious with Joe D’Amelio after they were spotted at an Eagles game.

“Um, I don’t think that those are rumors,” Austen answered, “I think they’ve been substantiated.” He also spoke for his on-again/off-again bestie. “I think Craig knows as such,” Austen claimed, “He didn’t know for a minute, but yeah, I think that he’s fully come to terms with that. That’s not a rumor.” A shocked Andy Cohen responded, “Wow, okay.” Meanwhile, Patricia Altschul said that Paige wasn’t nice to Craig during their three-year relationship.

Austen admitted he wasn’t surprised by the split

Austen also appeared on the Chicks in the Office podcast. He confirmed that he found out about the break-up when the rest of the world did. However, he said he knew the “writing was on the wall.” For instance, Paige didn’t come to the opening of their bar. And she hadn’t been in Charleston for a while. While Austen understands how busy Paige is, he adds, “You do make time for the people you care about.”

Austen recalled that, right after Thanksgiving, Craig claimed he and Paige had a whole plan for the holidays. “He was like, ‘So she’s going to come down here for four days. Then we’re gonna go to Delaware for two days. And then we’re gonna go to Albany for two or three days … and then we’re gonna go to London.’” But Craig also told Austen that Paige thought he was mad at her for being so busy. Then, when the holidays came around, Austen “noticed they were both posting home for Christmas, and I was like, they are not together.”

Austen could tell something was up and texted Craig to ask when he was going to London. Eventually, Craig admitted they weren’t going to London, and that he was going to Aspen instead. A couple of days after that, Austen saw the break-up news.

Austen admitted that his issues with Craig this season weren’t just because of Paige. It was about Craig pulling away in general. But Austen put aside their feud to be there for his pal after the breakup.

“Craig came over to my house and Shep came as well. And the three of us talked about Craig’s breakup. And I was just like, ‘Craig, I want you to promise me that you aren’t just going to, like, shut off.” He continued, “And I’m like, ‘If you need someone to talk to and hang with, and take your mind off it, call me. Call me. It’s not good for you to be solo with your thoughts.’”

Since then, Austen claims, they’ve had “a few 30-40 minute phone calls” about the situation. Austen also said Craig’s taken a few things out on him as he goes through all this.

After his WWHL appearance, Paige threw shade at Austen’s remarks. She commented on the WWHL Instagram post, “Ahhh yes a man I haven’t spoken to in 6 months knows exactly what I’m doing.”

A few days later, she also clarified the break-up timeline on her Giggly Squad podcast. Remember how Austen said Craig told him their holiday plans right after Thanksgiving? Paige claims that’s actually when they broke up. “Since no one’s sticking up for me on the other side,” she said, “Craig and I broke up Thanksgiving weekend. OK? That’s at the end of November.”

Despite this, Paige claimed, “Craig then went on and did press for Southern Charm, did whatever he needed to do, acting as if we were still together. And that was fine. I said that he could do that. He was processing in his own way.” Paige said she announced the split at the end of December after Craig acted like he was single over the holidays.

Seemingly addressing Austen’s claim she’s moved on, Paige insisted she’s still single. She also shut down cheating rumors. In fact, she asked Craig to stand up for her against those accusations, but he didn’t. Her bestie Amanda Batula previously called out Craig for this. When she announced their split, Paige clearly wanted the breakup to be as cordial as possible. However, things are really getting messy.

Southern Charm and Summer House are available to stream on Peacock.
