Fans have been following Reba McEntire and Rex Linn’s love story for quite some time, especially as they play love interests on television. However, the two have also been the subject of speculation when it comes to when they will tie the knot. Recently, an inside source shared that one thing might especially be delaying the couple’s big moment.
Reba McEntire & Rex Linn Announced Their Engagement In December 2024, But Haven’t Yet Set A Date
McEntire is a country music singer and actress. From 2001 to 2007, she starred in her namesake series, Reba, for six seasons. More recently, viewers have seen her on the NBC sitcom Happy’s Place.
In 2020, McEntire started a relationship with Rex Lim, with the two also playing love interests on Happy’s Place. First meeting in the 1990s, they reconnected decades later, with the two getting engaged in late 2024.

The couple has not yet set an official wedding date. Speaking with Closer Weekly, one insider shared that there is one hurdle that the two face before they tie the knot: protecting the country singer’s finances.
As the source shared, “She’s a romantic and she’s a people pleaser, so her initial reaction was to say she didn’t need a prenup because she didn’t want to have the awkward conversation with Rex.” However, the source noted, “Thankfully, she’s reconsidered.”
The Insider Claimed That Reba Has Rex’s Support, But Sorting Things Out Is Easier Said Than Done
According to the source, Rex has been nothing but supportive over the development. As they continued, “Rex hasn’t made any sort of fuss. He totally understands that they are in very different places financially and he wants Reba to feel protected.”
However, even if the singer has mutual support, that doesn’t make the process any easier. The source expressed, “They now have to go through all their personal and individual assets with a fine-tooth comb and it’s not something that either of them is really relishing doing, so it keeps getting kicked down the road.”

As the source noted, these financial issues could explain why the couple has yet to set a date. The insider shared, “That’s a big part of why things are held up. Once this is handled, everyone expects that they will go full steam ahead with the planning. It’s just a matter of getting this unpleasant business out of the way.”
As previously reported, there have been a few other reasons suggested as to why the couple hasn’t settled on a date. McEntire herself has also expressed that the two also have to work out their busy schedules and make sure all of their loved ones can attend.
